Kearsarge
Theatre Company to Hold 30 Year Reunion on July 7, 2007
(Warner,
NH) Thirty years ago, on July 7, 1977, at 8:13 pm (so ticketholders
would remember the exact curtain time), the stage curtains parted
in the Warner Town Hall as the inaugural production of the newly
formed Kearsarge Theatre Company (KTC) launched the first season
of this professionally-staffed and community-based summer production
company.
During the
company’s five-year run at the Warner Town Hall (1977
– 1981), hundreds of local volunteers supported the KTC
staff, and hundreds more audience members supported and enjoyed
the KTC’s efforts in bringing quality theatre to the Kearsarge
area. The Kearsarge Theatre Company offered a wide array of mainstage
productions, both musical and non-musical, along with children’s
theatre shows and workshops and classes in the performing arts.
Additionally, the theatre hosted performances from visiting
artists from all over the Northeast and was host to many guest
performers from across the country and several parts of the
world.
Although
primarily a summer theatre company, the KTC did produce shows
and sponsored other performing arts events during the winter
months. An extension of the KTC provided artists-in-residence
to the New Hampton School. A variety of people were involved
in all aspects of the KTC, many of whom have gone on to distinguished
careers in the arts, education, government, and other professions.
July 7,
2007, marks the 30th anniversary of the KTC’s opening
and a reunion is being held at MainStreet BookEnds in Warner
to celebrate and remember that occasion.Anyone who was involved
with the KTC is invited to come to this reunion. The organizing
committee hopes it will be an opportunity for staff, volunteers,
and audience members alike to gather for an evening of remembering
the great work that was done, the friendships that were formed,
and the strong sense of community that grew out of these endeavors.
It will also be a time for people to become reacquainted, catch
up on what has been happening in the lives of those people who
worked so closely together and may not have been in touch for
many years, and contribute to a project being developed to help
preserve the memorabilia and memories of the KTC.
The KTC’s
30th Reunion will begin at 5 pm and continue into the evening
hours on Saturday, July 7,at MainStreet BookEnds in Warner.
A potluck dinner will be held at 7:13 and those attending are
asked to contribute to the dinner as follows: Last names A-E:
appetizers; F-N: salads; O-S: main dish; T-Z: desserts. Everyone
should bring their own beverages. A tent with tables and chairs
will be provided.
Donations
are requested to cover those costs. Bring memorabilia saved
over the years to share with everyone
.Please
RSVP for what promises to be a fun-filled event at: KTCreunion@yahoo.com.
Indicate who will be attending and leave e-mail contact information.
For more
information about the reunion and to view a list of people both
“found” and “lost” from the KTC years,

you are and help find folks currently out of touch.
The Kearsarge
Theatre Company had a brief time in the spotlight, but it changed
many lives and made a difference to many people and the Kearsarge
communities. Come…we have some great stories to share,
great memories to relive.
